Our Commitment to Accessibility

MedSeva Innovation Hub is committed to ensuring that our website, client portals, service platforms, and all digital touchpoints are accessible to everyone — including individuals with visual, auditory, motor, cognitive, and neurological disabilities. We serve the healthcare sector, where inclusive access to information and services is not only a legal and ethical obligation but a professional imperative.

This Accessibility Statement outlines the standards we follow, the features we have implemented to support diverse users, the specific accessibility considerations relevant to our healthcare IT context, current known limitations, and how to contact us if you encounter any barrier on our website or platforms.

MedSeva Innovation Hub strives to meet the requirements of Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) as it applies to digital content, and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, as published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). As a California-based organization, we also comply with the Unruh Civil Rights Act as it applies to digital accessibility.

01Standards We Follow

MedSeva Innovation Hub’s website and client-facing platforms are designed and maintained in accordance with the following accessibility standards:

  • WCAG 2.1 Level AA — Our primary conformance target, covering perceivability, operability, understandability, and robustness of digital content
  • Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act — Applicable to content and platforms used by federal or federally-funded healthcare entities we serve
  • ADA Title III (digital application) — Ensuring our website does not discriminate against individuals with disabilities in the provision of services
  • Unruh Civil Rights Act (California) — Prohibiting disability-based discrimination in business establishments, including digital services
  • WCAG 2.1 Level AAA — We strive to meet select Level AAA criteria where feasible, particularly in areas of critical healthcare content

We conduct regular third-party accessibility audits and integrate automated accessibility testing into our development workflow to monitor and maintain conformance over time.

02Accessibility Features

2.1 Website Navigation & Structure

  • Full keyboard navigation support across all pages, menus, forms, and interactive elements, with no reliance on mouse or touchscreen
  • Logical, semantic heading structure (H1 through H6) to enable screen reader users to navigate efficiently between sections
  • Skip-to-main-content link at the top of every page to allow screen reader and keyboard users to bypass repetitive navigation
  • ARIA landmark roles and labels applied to all major page regions including navigation, main content, search, and footer
  • Consistent, predictable navigation across all pages so users always know where they are and can orient themselves easily
  • Breadcrumb navigation on multi-level pages to support orientation for users with cognitive disabilities

2.2 Visual Design & Readability

  • Colour contrast ratios meeting or exceeding WCAG 2.1 AA requirements across all text, interactive elements, and data visualisations
  • Text resizable up to 200% without loss of content, functionality, or horizontal scrolling
  • No content that conveys meaning through colour alone — all colour-coded elements include a text or pattern alternative
  • Consistent, high-visibility focus indicators on all interactive elements for keyboard and switch access users
  • Clean, well-spaced typography optimised for readability, including adequate line spacing and paragraph margins
  • No content that flashes more than three times per second, in compliance with photosensitivity guidelines

2.3 Images, Media & Documents

  • Descriptive alt text on all meaningful images, including diagrams, infographics, and team photography
  • Decorative images marked with empty alt attributes so they are correctly ignored by screen readers
  • All data charts and visualisations include accessible text summaries or data tables as alternatives
  • Video content includes captions and, where feasible, audio description tracks for visual information
  • Downloadable documents (including reports, case studies, and whitepapers) are provided in accessible, tagged PDF format with a plain-text or HTML alternative where possible

2.4 Forms & Interactive Features

  • All form fields include visible, programmatically associated labels and clear instructional text
  • Inline error messages are clearly written, linked to the relevant field, and announced to screen readers via ARIA live regions
  • Required fields are indicated both visually and programmatically so assistive technologies can communicate their status
  • Autocomplete attributes applied to standard fields (name, email, organisation) to assist users with cognitive or motor disabilities
  • Session timeout warnings are provided in advance, with the option to extend the session, ensuring users who need more time are not abruptly logged out
  • Multi-step processes (such as service enquiry forms) include clear progress indicators so users always know where they are in the process

2.5 Client Portal & Authenticated Platforms

  • MedSeva Innovation Hub’s client portal and project collaboration platforms are designed to the same WCAG 2.1 AA standard as our public website
  • All dashboards, reports, and governance documents delivered through client portals are available in accessible formats on request
  • Role-based interfaces are clearly labelled and navigable by keyboard and screen reader
  • Portal notifications and status updates are communicated via accessible in-app alerts and, where applicable, email

03Healthcare Context & Accessibility Considerations

MedSeva Innovation Hub serves healthcare organisations, administrators, clinicians, and technology professionals across the healthcare sector. We recognise that accessibility in a healthcare IT context carries particular importance, as our clients and their teams may include individuals with disabilities who rely on our platforms to carry out critical professional functions.

3.1 Healthcare Professional Users

Our website and platforms are designed to be fully usable by healthcare professionals who may rely on assistive technologies such as screen readers, magnification software, voice recognition, or alternative input devices. All service descriptions, case studies, governance frameworks, and resource materials are structured to be accessible to users navigating with assistive technology.

3.2 Accessible Healthcare IT Resources

MedSeva Innovation Hub publishes educational and advisory resources on healthcare IT topics including EHR implementation, HIPAA compliance, interoperability, and health data governance. We are committed to ensuring all such resources are:

  • Available in accessible HTML or tagged PDF format
  • Free from jargon where possible, or supported by a plain-language summary
  • Structured with logical headings, descriptive link text, and accessible data tables where applicable
  • Available in alternative formats on request, including large print or plain text

3.3 Accessible Contact & Enquiry Channels

We recognise that some users may be unable to use standard web forms or telephone-based contact. MedSeva Innovation Hub offers the following alternative contact channels to ensure all prospective and current clients can reach us:

  • Email: accessibility@MedSevaInnovationHub.org (monitored and responded to within 2 business days)
  • Web form with full keyboard and screen reader accessibility at www.medsevainnovationhub.org/contact
  • Written postal correspondence: MedSeva Innovation Hub, 601 California Street, Suite 100, San Francisco, CA 94108
  • Video relay service (VRS) and text-based relay service calls are accepted

04Known Limitations

We are committed to full WCAG 2.1 AA conformance and actively work to resolve accessibility issues. The following limitations are currently known and are being addressed:

  • Some legacy PDF documents in our resource library, published prior to 2024, may not be fully tagged or accessible. We are progressively remediating these. An accessible alternative is available on request by emailing accessibility@MedSevaInnovationHub.org.
  • Certain third-party embedded tools — including scheduling widgets and live chat plugins — may not fully meet WCAG 2.1 AA standards. We are evaluating accessible alternatives for all such components.
  • Some complex data visualisations within our case study materials may not yet have complete text-based equivalents. We are adding accessible summaries to all charts and graphs as part of our 2026 content review.
  • Video content published before 2025 may not include audio description tracks. New video content is produced with audio descriptions as standard. Older content is being prioritised for remediation.

We aim to resolve all known issues within 90 days of identification. If you encounter a barrier not listed here, please contact us immediately.

05Assistive Technologies Supported

MedSeva Innovation Hub’s website and platforms have been tested for compatibility with the following assistive technologies and browsing environments:

  • JAWS (Job Access With Speech) with Chrome and Edge on Windows
  • NVDA (NonVisual Desktop Access) with Firefox and Chrome on Windows
  • VoiceOver with Safari on macOS and iOS
  • TalkBack with Chrome on Android
  • ZoomText and Magnifier for screen magnification on Windows
  • Dragon NaturallySpeaking for voice recognition and navigation
  • Keyboard-only navigation across all major browsers
  • High contrast mode on Windows and macOS

We test across the latest two versions of Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Microsoft Edge on desktop, and across current iOS and Android operating systems on mobile devices.

06Third-Party Content

MedSeva Innovation Hub’s website may include links to or embedded content from third-party providers, including technology partners, EHR vendors, industry bodies, and regulatory agencies. While we request that all partner content meets accessibility standards, we cannot guarantee the accessibility of third-party websites or resources.

Where a third-party component creates an accessibility barrier, we will provide an accessible alternative on request.

If you encounter accessibility issues on a third-party site linked from MedSeva Innovation Hub, we encourage you to contact that organisation directly. You are also welcome to notify us at accessibility@MedSevaInnovationHub.org so we can review the link and provide any available alternative.

07Ongoing Accessibility Programme

Accessibility at MedSeva Innovation Hub is a continuous programme of improvement, not a one-time effort. Our current initiatives include:

  • Annual independent third-party WCAG 2.1 AA conformance audit with published results
  • Automated accessibility scanning integrated into our development and content publishing pipeline using tools including Axe and Lighthouse
  • Quarterly internal accessibility reviews of newly published content and platform updates
  • Accessibility training for all team members involved in website design, content creation, and software development
  • User testing with individuals who rely on assistive technologies to inform improvements to navigation, content structure, and form usability
  • A dedicated accessibility roadmap reviewed and updated each quarter, available on request

We are also committed to incorporating accessibility considerations into all client-facing deliverables, governance frameworks, and implementation recommendations we provide, recognising that many of our healthcare clients are themselves obligated to meet ADA and Section 508 requirements.

08Feedback & Contact

We genuinely welcome feedback about the accessibility of MedSeva Innovation Hub’s website and platforms. If you encounter a barrier, find that a feature does not work as expected with your assistive technology, or need content in an alternative format, please contact us:

We aim to acknowledge all accessibility feedback within 2 business days and to provide a substantive response or resolution within 10 business days. Where an issue cannot be resolved immediately, we will communicate a clear timeline and offer a reasonable alternative in the interim.

If you are not satisfied with our response to an accessibility concern, you may contact the U.S. Department of Justice ADA Information Line at 1-800-514-0301 (voice) or 1-800-514-0383 (TTY), or file a complaint with the California Department of Rehabilitation.

MedSeva Innovation Hub is committed to making healthcare IT accessible to all. This statement is reviewed and updated annually.
